If x = 2 for the equation y = 5x -3, what is the ordered pair (x, y)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y=mx + b is slope intercept form, and b = y-intercept. so I believe it is (2, -3)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Are you still there @abcdomg ?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

By the way @jadeybells answer is not correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o.O would you mind sharing? Please >.<

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Sure. What the ordered pair (x, y) means is the two values that satisfy the equation y = 5x -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh >.<

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

They have given you the x-value as 2 and are asking you to find the coresponding y-value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for explaining :)

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Thanks for asking :)
