A tortoise is walking in the desert. It walks at a speed of 5 meters per minuet for 12.5 meters. For how many minutes does it walk? Can someone help me I'm not sure how I'm supposed to solve this or if there is a specific equation I'm supposed to be using.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

speed =5m/min distance = 12.5 m time = \(\dfrac{distance}{speed}\) you work on it

So I would get 2.5 meaning it would be 2 min 50 seconds.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.5 minutes is not 2min 50 seconds hihi because 1 minute = 60 seconds so that 0.5 minutes = 30 seconds only

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I would insert my answer in as 2.3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ha!! if you choose minute as unit, then it is 2.5 minutes if you choose the combination of minutes and seconds, then it is 2 minutes 30 seconds.

I think I got it. Thanks for the help :)
