answering tihs question requires a knowledge of simple trig functions, Sin/Cos/Tan.
we know the cos(60)=x/30, so if you find cos60 and multiply it by 30 you will have the value for x. Then, we see the pink triangle is a 45-45-90 triangle, so the side bordering the green triangle is the same length as x, or the answer we found earlier. From there, you can use the sin(60)=x/y, or y=x/sin(60).
