Fan And Medal:
Question? :)
The table below shows the values of y for each value of x: x y -1 0 -1 -1 -2 2 -2 3 Part A: Does the table represent a relation that is a function? Justify your answer by using the values shown in the table. (4 points) Part B: The function f(h) shown below represents the number of tennis matches Diana won each month when she practiced tennis for h hours every day: If f(h) = 3h + 1 Calculate and interpret the meaning of f(3). Part C: Write an ordered pair to represent the input and output of the function in Part B when Diana practices tennis for b hours every day.
One way in which to recognize a function is this: For any of the input (x-) values, there is exactly one output (y-) value. Look at your table and see whether you can now decide whether the table represents a function or not. So f(h) = 3h + 1 f(3) = 3(3) + 1 All you do is when the letter in the parentheses is replaced by a number then you replace the letter with the number. In this case it's: f(h) = 3h + 1 f(3) = 3(3) + 1 f(3)= 10
It does not represent a function.
A function such as f(x)=x+1 produces ordered pairs representing x- and y-values. If the input to this function is 7, the output is 8. Write the ordered pair (b, f(b)). This is part C
So, what you just explained "A function such as f(x)=x+1 produces...ordered pairs (b,f(b))" is Part C?
A: It does not. B: f(h) = 3h + 1 f(3) = 3(3) + 1 f(3)= 10 C: (7,8)
Thanks SO much! Can you help with a few more? (:
I can try
(:
I am going to post to a new thread so that you can get more medals! Thanks a lot!
