William raced up a flight of stairs at the rate of 3 stairs per second. The function below shows the total number of stairs f(t) that he is able to climb in t seconds: f(t) = 3t + 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which statement best describes the y-intercept of the graph of the function? It is equal to 7 and represents the number of stairs William can climb in 1 second. It is equal to 3 and represents the number of stairs William can climb in 1 second. It is equal to 4 and represents the number of stairs William had already climbed before he started racing up. It is equal to 3 and represents the number of stairs @popcornfun

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know where the y intercept is in the function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, I was getting food.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haven't eaten all day... Anyways, where were we?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was asking if uu knew what the y interrupts were for this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y intercept is 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i meant do u know what they mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, 3t = no clue but the 4 = I have a feeling means the intercept.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh 3t is a point on the line!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it starts at 3t and goes through 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u wanna find out the y u have to set the x values for 0 and solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One of the x values is 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Y intercept would be 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's gotta be C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup good job!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, there's some more.. should I just put it in this topic?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but when u post them can u wait for a min ill come back its just that someone wants my help for a question but ill come back as soon as i finish. can u wait?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, for sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx ill be back as soon as i can

The table below represents the distance a person runs as a function of time:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Time (SECONDS) x: Distance(Meters) f(x) 10 60 13 78 16 96 19 114

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The average rate of change of the function between x = 10 to x = 16 is __________ m/s and represents the person's speed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi srry my computer wasn't working and the answer is 6 because when u multiply the x's by six u get the f(x) answer the x is like the input and the F(x) is another way for writing y and that is the output
