difference between notch filter and bandreject filter

OpenStudy (kenljw):

I don't think there's a difference, but a notch filter might be a very narrow band reject filter. I remember in the 70's seeing a notch filter made with Op Amps that just rejected 60 Hz.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is a big difference because a notch filter is used to detect/reject a particular frequency, whereas a band reject filter reject a particular band of frequency or u can say it to be a bandwidth.

OpenStudy (kenljw):

A notch filter does a bandwidth associated with it, though very small
