using Impulse explain why you can catch an egg with out breaking it .
Is it because you can extend the time and reduce force ?
For an egg to break, an external force that is sufficient to break the molecular bonding of the shell is to be exerted from a single source. If an egg is thrown, it has enough kinetic energy in it's system, which when comes into contact with another body that does not dynamically absorb the kinetic energy of the egg will lead to shattering of the egg. Now, F=ma, where F is the force of the egg. To prevent the egg from breaking, you have to reduce this force acting on the egg, and it can be done by either reducing the mass of the egg (which is not possible) or reduce the acceleration or velocity/time acting on the egg...
I think it follows the eq F delta t = delta p. RHS of the eq is nonnegotiable. If u are catching the egg momentum of the egg will reduce from some value to zero. But from the LHS,if u take long enough time to reduce the momentum, the force acting on the egg wil reduce.I think that's why u can catch an egg without breaking it.
