what is the easiest steps/ways to estimate a square root?

say your number is 27. take the two closest square roots (25 and 36). from there, in this case you know that 5^2 (25) is closer to your number than 6^2 (36) is, so you just estimate. 25.1 or 25.2 would be a close enough answer
