You have 2 quadrilaterals that are similar ABCD and QRST So you know that: AB = QR BC = RS CD = ST

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The chart gives the values of the sides of the second quadrilateral so you need to set up a ratio to find the factor. So for each side: \[\frac{ AB }{ QR } = Factor\] \[\frac{ BC }{ RS } = Factor \] Now do the same for the rest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Side AB is given to equal 3 inches and Side QR in the chart is given to equal 12 inches so plugging that in you get the first factor. Do the same with the other values you have.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solve the rest of them and match them up. Show your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im confused :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have all the sides given. Use them as I did above and you will find the factors

OpenStudy (loganator):

did you hear the joke about 193? GOOGLE IT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant be seeming to find the factors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[AB = 3\]\[BC = 4\]\[CD = 4\]\[DA = 6\] \[QR= 12\]\[RS = 1\]\[ST = 8 \]\[TQ = 9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use what you know to find the factors. You must use the example i showed you above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and to find the factors i divide ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct you divide one side of the first quadrilateral by that of the equal corresponding side of the second quadrilateral.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A shown above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so for exaample ab and qr so i divide 12divided by three and get 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so do goes to 0.25?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually you may have been doing it right where the second quadrilateral is divided by the first to get 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so d goes to four ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because if you multiply the 3 by your scale factor 4, you get 12 which is the side of the 2nd quadrilateral side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ QR }{ AB } = Factor = 4\] \[\frac{ RS }{ BC }=Factor = ?\] \[\frac{ ST }{ CD } = Factor = ?\] \[\frac{ TQ }{ DA } = Factor = ?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now do the same for the rest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooooooooo ok i think i got it now so for the answers: a=0.25 b=1.5 d=4 c=2 are these the correct answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Incorrect. A = 0.25 lets try it out|dw:1403781639291:dw| Which is not side TQ
