it would be really nice if we could have moderators watching the chats at all times or something because there are a lot of crude people in there being disgusting and rude. ESPECIALLY in the math chat! someone please take care of this if possible.
I don't see a problem with it
you dont but i agree with @alicatforever
thanks (: @Future_UsArmy_MP
smh
and there is a serious problem. people want to just chat and get help with there stuff but we cant even so that, because of all the rude people.
some new users see the flashing at the bottom (chat) and click on it and when they see drama, language, and spam they are just doing to say might as well get my answer from a dull site that isn't that modern that will help out and has more control of its users. Open Study is a great site just has lack of control over its users.
smh
Moderators are chosen from all across the world with the expectation that a couple of mods will be active at all times. But, moderation is a voluntary work for us, since this is a free learning site. So sometimes it happens that there are no mods around. What is suggested for normal users when they see a spammer in the chat is : 1) report that user only once. 2) don't get mad, such things happens usually, ignore the spammers. 3) ask your friends on OpenStudy to report the spammer (as number of reports from different user matters and not total number of reports) As of now, Math chat is taken care of.
I'll have to agree with what Hartnn said. Unfortunately, there are times when no one is watching the chats. His suggestions are spot on. Reporting them more than once only leads to more spam for us, and I can not emphasize enough that you should simply ignore them. Even when they're spamming the chatbox with massive amounts of inappropriate comments, PLEASE simply report them and/or close the chat window.
oh ok i see what @hartnn means on the third one cause if it reaches a certain amounts of different users reports it'll be a community suspension meaning they would be suspended with out a mods permission
Personally, I would only recommend doing number 3 if the moderators are not aware of the problem. If we are aware and already combating it, getting a bunch of people to report them won't do much good.
I agree with @alicatforever The math chat is the worse.....
I'll suggest to report such people without responding to them ! The more u'll respond the more they will get strengthen up ! \(\huge\bigstar\) Ignore \(\huge\bigstar\) Report Those are the key to weaken them ! @alicatforever
thanks guys
@amistre64 @AravindG need you guys to take care of math chat we are talking about mens private parts and bullying
-.- now they are talking about female parts
Yes Sir.
Yep. It was insane.
To be honest, most of us really don't care about the chat... The site doesn't provide tools to moderate a chatbox properly so what's the point. People send reports, you hover it and see the word chat in the link, so it gets ignored automatically. We would need to click that link, locate the post that was reported, and then read a (usually massive amount) of chat messages in order to find out what happened (since 90% of the users leaves the comment box empty). Now if this happens once in a while, it wouldn't be that hard. But at some times we get 200 chat reports per hour. So I agree with hartnn and kinggeorge, ask your friends to report the trolls or spammers. It will result in an automatic suspension. If this user keeps coming back on new accounts, just ignore it. They'll get bored at some point. Hopefully this extremely frequent display of immaturity will decrease significantly when account verification is required in order to utilize the chat box.
