What is the different between Ac and Dc?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alternating current has a sinusoidal nature of electricity, found by Nikola Tesla. Direct current has no sinusoidal nature and was founded by Edison. |dw:1403797463908:dw|

As an addition to that - alternating current will be more useful in predicting the behaviour of an electrical system because we know how to deal with AC mathematically, in other words we can predict the response of a system by means of differential equations (harmonic oscillator) . Hence why we generally convert DC to AC because we then have an input with a frequency and we know how to deal with the mathematics of periodic functions very well, DC current provides the power but displays no periodic behaviour.

OpenStudy (masumanwar):

dc current is defined as the direct current from any electric source such as battery and have the graphs straight line on the other hand ac current or alternating current is defined as the sinusoidal current expressed as sine wave got frequency and other related parameter but using rectifier we can convert ac to dc
