If a and b are real numbers and a < b, is the statement a + c > b + c true? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, because a<b and you are adding C to both sides. For example, lets say that A=1, B=2 and C=5 A+C < B+C 1+5 < 2+5 6 < 7 Regardless which numbers you plug in the answer will always be the same as long as A<B
