about the only thing I can say is if the central angle is 120 then the minor arc BC is subtended by an angle of 120... and the major arc BC is subtended by an angle 240 minor arc BC is 1/3 of the circumference.... sorry but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me

I think the question is answered by @campbell_st but has to be worded to prove that the minor arc is 1/3 the circumference. since the circle is 360° = circumference (2*pi*r) and there is a direct relationship between the angle and the circumference then 120/360 = length of arc/ circumference length of arc, BC = 1/3 the circumference
