Two distances (x and y) from a point are related by the expression 3x = 9y + 8. Distance x is increasing at a rate of 18 m/s. Find the rate at which y is changing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isolate y; get it by itself. subtract 8 from both sides: 9y = 3x - 8 divide both sides by 9 y = (3x - 8)/9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not 100% sure. they usually tell you find the rate at which y is changing at a given point (x, y) do you have access to the solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I don't that's why I had to post it here :/
