i really need a career counseling....help pls? is it better to take engineering or doctorate?

hartnn (hartnn):

I am not any expert in career counselling, but i can tell you this : Take up whatever you \(\Large like\) more. You are going to end up doing that, \( \Large \text {your whole life!}\) You don't want to end up regretting after 50 years that your entire life would have been different and better if only you chose the other option.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Doctorates are generally more professional qualification degrees or teaching degrees. For example, you need a PhD. in Psychology for certain jobs, like a clinical psychologist that does therapy. In fields that do not require this level of degree, well, that is how they make teachers. To go back to psychology for another example, Industrial/Organizational only needs a Master's level degree. People with a PhD in I/O get it to teach, not practice. Engineering, even though it may only require a baccalaureate, may actually require as much education as a PhD. I know people that took 5 years as a full time student to complete the needed classes as well as following that by working under someone else for four years. This was for a civil engineering job. Do do not know if others are as extensive in what it takes to become one. What is more important is this: what do you think you will enjoy doing for years? If you are going to invest a long time into getting an education, you need to invest it wisely. Picking a job you can do, but will hate, is simply asking to burn out fast.
