Factor the expression below. x^2 - 12x + 36

OpenStudy (muzzack):

Final result : (x - 6)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's what I thought too , but it's not an answer choice answer choices are A. 6(x^2 - x + 6) B. (x - 6)(x - 6) C. (x - 6)(x + 6) D. (x + 6)(x + 6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be B ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would say b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (mathmate):

(x-6)(x-6) is the same as (x-6)^2. Hint: If you expand (x-6)(x-6) by FOIL or otherwise, you should get back x^2-12x+36.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that's why I chose B , I was just making sure I was right

OpenStudy (muzzack):

So its B
