You could use the amazon river, there is a point where it connects 3 countries ( Colombia, Brazil and Peru) and you can be in the "middle" of the border of the 3 at the same time (technicaly) it is also an importan military point for Brazil and Colombia (Peru doesnt have any importan city in the border) and it was an important trade road.
