List three ways by which fecal coliform is transferred from the land to water. In your own words, explain how these might impact the environment and human health

1) The fecal matter is flushed down a toilet into a lake. The lake is therefore contaminated. First world countries purify drinking water, but that water could be used in irrigation and contaminate the food supply.

2) Rain run off could wash contaminated soil into water ways. Fecal matter supports algae growth while colriform could harm the fish population creating an imbalance at the bottom of the food chains that would affect everything else.
