I am having a bit of trouble with z-scores. For example, when I calculated a z-score for a problem, I got +2.5 which on the z-table is .99379. However, the answer to the question was .00621 which on the Z-Table is -2.5. Why is this so?

@mathmale Sorry to bother you, but you answered a question similar to this a while back.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what does a zscore tell us about the information?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a zscore tells us something about distance and direction from the mean.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you get the distance right, but mess up on the direction .... then your going to be off on a left/right tailed table

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how can I tell whether it is negative or positive? Would you like me to give you an example question?
