it's just dominance, they alleles aren't both contributing to the phenotype.

@AnnalieseBronz @aaronq Is right. Codominant alleles are both expressed, usually equally, and we get a "mix" of the two. An example would be the ABO blood type. A person whose father has type B blood and whose mother has type A would have AB type blood because both the A blood type allele and the B type allele are expressed.
