What is the major difference between a persuasive essay and an argumentative essay? An argumentative essay does not try to change a reader's opinion. An argumentative essay does not try to prove a point. An argumentative essay does not use emotions. An argumentative essay does not use facts. If you are reading this tanya123, thank you! In a persuasive essay, the writer is trying to convince the reader to accept the reader's idea or point of view. It is like saying, you are trying to win the acceptance of the ideas you have. While in an argumentative essay the writer is trying to persuade the reader. It is the opposite in both cases.
