I am a teen and interested in game development should I learn java or C++. Thanks.

Find a game engine you want to use. Then learn any language you need to use it.

If your computer is Windows 7 or later, Java will be cheaper. You can get the JDK ( Java Development Kit ) for free, but I'm not aware of any free C++ compilers for Windows after XP. Your production code will probably be in C++, but you can do a lot of learning that will pretty readily translate to C++ in Java.

The Express versions of Microsoft Visual Studio are free, and they come with C++ compilers.
