Which contains a sentence error? A. I have to be home by noon on Saturday; otherwise, I can't go fishing with my dad. B. I have to be home by noon on Saturday, otherwise, I can't go fishing with my dad. C. I have to be home by noon on Saturday, or I can't go fishing with my dad. D. I have to be home by noon on Saturday. Otherwise, I can't go fishing with my dad. Please help me.

B. I have to be home by noon on Saturday, otherwise, I can't go fishing with my dad.

CEEEEEE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isn't that alot of commas though

OpenStudy (tanya123):

It says "sentence error"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True. I think B too.

OpenStudy (bokkie):

D is the one with an error. You can't start another sentence with otherwise

OpenStudy (bokkie):

Thanks Whisper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WAIT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was so confused, he answer is C actually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cant start a sentence with Otherwise

OpenStudy (bokkie):

C is correct. The sentence starting with otherwise is D and not C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do see this but you never start a sentence out with Otherwise. so they're both wrong, its just which is more wrong

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I think the incorrect one is D

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

The more I look at it, I am not so sure now

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

check this out... https://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/ConjAdv.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i know :/

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

The more I research, I am gonna stick with the incorrect answer being D. All the others seem to make sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would also say D... well thats what ive been saying but it seems like other answers also have their fault

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oh well....its the askers choice on which answer to pick. It's not our grade. All we can do is give our opinions.

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

Well if A is correct, B can't be correct...Or vice versa..I would say that it's between those two. >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but once more, you cant start a sentence with otherwise (a conjunction)

OpenStudy (adrynicoleb):

Lol this is confusing...We are probably over-thinking it >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

You can start a sentence with a conjunctive adverb, which is what " otherwise " is. Just look at the link I posted above

OpenStudy (tanya123):

What's the error in D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D is incorrect because it is subordinate and 'otherwise' is a conjunction connecting the phrases.
