What is the effect of the personification in the following lines written by John Muir? "As long as I live, I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can."

Its kinda hard to explain to be honest with you. The man is saying that for as long as he lives, he's going to be an archeologist. The personification kinda dramatizes this fact, its shows how serious he is about it. The personification also give a dreaming tone to it, as if this is the mans main goal in life and is his dream of discovering the secrets behind the earth.

Sorry if you don't understand this, as I said, its hard to word it
