in the triangle with sides x,y and 12 you have angles 60,30 and 90 Use the sine rule to calculate x & y from 12/sin60 In the other triangle you have angles 90, 45, 45 - so even tho the picture is not to scale you can see that the side z and th eunmarked side must be equal in length use the sin rule again 12/sin 90 = z/sin45
