More systems of linear inequalities questions. Haha... Medals will be rewarded.

OpenStudy (knudsona):

The graph below represents which system of inequalities?

OpenStudy (knudsona):

OpenStudy (knudsona):

Can you explain to me how I would go upon solving this? :)

hartnn (hartnn):

whaat do you need to find ?

OpenStudy (knudsona):

I need to find the system of inequalities for this. They give me options, but they don't come out right when I try to copy and paste them.

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, first thing you can start with is to test some points. and the easiest point to test is 0,0 so, plug in x=0, y =0 in your inequalities see which come out to be true and which come out to be false

hartnn (hartnn):

you can directly eliminate those options for which you get false

OpenStudy (knudsona):

There are two that come out to be correct with that.

OpenStudy (knudsona):

\[y \le -2x + 3\]

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, now take any other point, of your choice which lies inside the solution set, (the darkest region) and test that point

OpenStudy (knudsona):

okay soooo, which region. Color blind, they all look the same. Top, left, right, or bottom?

hartnn (hartnn):

you will have 2 such inequalities in each option right ?? make sure you get true for BOTH inequalities

hartnn (hartnn):

i am color blind too :P bottom is darkest

OpenStudy (knudsona):

Okay. My dad said that the left one is darkest XD

OpenStudy (knudsona):

so, hows (-1,1) ? does that sound like a good one to work with?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, it lies in the solution set (the bottom one! :P)

OpenStudy (knudsona):

so, i plug that into the two sets and see which one works?

hartnn (hartnn):

thats correct

OpenStudy (knudsona):

Okay, I got this one. Can you stay around just in case i need help with another?

hartnn (hartnn):

did you get it as y <= -2x+3 and y<= x+3 ?

hartnn (hartnn):

and sure

OpenStudy (knudsona):

Yeah. Thats the answer I got.
