Write the equation of the line that is parallel to the line y = 5x - 4 and contains the point (-3,6).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

rule: in order for two lines to be parallel, they must have the same slope. Thus: Find the slope of y=5x-4; it can be done by inspection (no work necessary). Locate and write down the "point-slope formula for the equation of a straight line." substitute your slope for 'm' and the coordinates of y our given point (-3,6) into this formula. Simplify it. You're then done!
