Please help, I will give a medal. Thank you. Write an inequality to describe the possible range of values for x. A. 15 < x < 16 B. 0 < x < 16 C. 0 < x < 15 D. 15 < x < 31
Look at the pieces. BC = BD This might suggest that x = 16, but keep thinking. 68 < 78, to x < 16, but not a whole lot less. The upper triangle exists, so x shoudl be nowhere near zero. There might be a ratio that would help. 68/78 = 0.87, so x might be around 87% of 16, or 14 ish. Having said all that, what can you say about the four choices?
So, it's A?
You didn't say much about the others.
I'm pretty sure it's C
Are you just throwing darts? What section are you studying?
It's a geometry class on Triangle Inequalities
It's part of e2020
You didn't quite answer my question. These are pretty close to equilateral triangles. x should not be anywhere near zero. I hesitate to say something that says it can be close. When I say comment on them, I mean comment on them. D is just silly. Don't pick that. A is too narrow and 15 isn't low enough. Don't pick A. Given the two very similar choices, I might be forced to pick the one farther from 16. Those zeros (0) are just really annoying. We can narrow it down better than that. If I HAD to write such a thing, I might stick my neck out and say 13 < x < 15.
