The Venn diagram below shows similarities and differences between binary fission and mitosis. What is wrong with the diagram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A Venn diagram with two groups: Binary Fission and Mitosis. Under mitosis the following factors are listed: Chromosomes are replaced; used for growth and repair; formst two membrane-bound nuclei; used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes; provides for genetic diversity; creates two identical daughter cells. Under binary fission, the following factors are listed: DNA is replicated; simple process; used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes; provides for genetic diversity; creates two identical daughter cells. The two circles share the following factors: used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes; provides for genetic diversity; creates two identical daughter cells. Mitosis forms four identical daughter cells. Mitosis does not form membrane-bound nuclei. Binary fission is not used by eukaryotes. Binary fission is not a simple process.

@Abhisar

@ganeshie8

OpenStudy (abhisar):

What do u think ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The third one due to binary fission being common in prokaryotic cells rather than eukaryotic cells with exception for the mitochondria.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

I am not getting ur question ! What exactly we have to do ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I give a list of things about mitosis and binary fission and I am confused on which one is right or wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mitosis: Chromosomes are replaced; used for growth and repair; formst two membrane-bound nuclei; used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes; provides for genetic diversity; creates two identical daughter cells

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

C - Because binary fission is only used in bacteria like prokaryotes. You don't even have to look at the question to answer it lol.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

provides for genetic diversity is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Binary Fission: DNA is replicated; simple process; used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes; provides for genetic diversity; creates two identical daughter cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But that's the problem, it's not an answer choice.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Mitosis forms four identical daughter cells. This is also wrong !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So that's why I am confused!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that. That's what it says in the diagram.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Was just about to write that

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Meiosis forms 4 daughter cells.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Just Yolo, your teacher has no idea what he/she is doing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know, but which statement is wrong? I mean, it's supposed to be genetic diversity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mitosis and Binary Fission: used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes; provides for genetic diversity; creates two identical daughter cells. This is what the diagram says.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Do we have to choose from these four Mitosis forms four identical daughter cells. Mitosis does not form membrane-bound nuclei. Binary fission is not used by eukaryotes. Binary fission is not a simple process.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I chose the third one.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

the wrong one, ryt ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

A will be most appropriate answer !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it isn't in the diagram.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Venn diagram also says "used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes;"

OpenStudy (abhisar):

for mitosis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And binary fission

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Binary fission is not a simple process.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It isn't?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

It.s indeed a simpler process !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's the third one

OpenStudy (abhisar):

i thought we have to choose the wrong statement !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah we do.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

So, option A and D are wrong !

OpenStudy (abhisar):

are uh getting my points ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, but I can only choose one.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

oh..i see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says in the lesson that it is a simple process, at least what the teacher told me.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Then go for D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But the lesson said it is a simple process.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

option D says it's not a simple process, so it's wrong and we have to choose the wrong one \(\huge\color{green}{ت}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Btw this question has more than one answers, A & D both are incorrect, if u go with D

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*if=but

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Even option C is incorrect !

OpenStudy (abhisar):

And B is also incorrect !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In the diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like the info at the very top.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yeah that's why u should go with D, in diagram it says "Binary fission is a simple process"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it's what statement is wrong in the DIAGRAM, not the actual statements itself.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yeah i got the question now \(\color{green}{\huge\ddot\smile}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I am going with C because I found something in the lesson.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It said binary fission occurs in prokaryotic cells in another venn diagram in the lesson, but thanks anyways for helping me out.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yeah the diagram says used by prokaryotes and eukaryotes

OpenStudy (abhisar):

But it's mostly usede by prokaryotes

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*used

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that's why.
