OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Here is my graphic of the problem. Determine area of rectangle QRSV Triangle QVU Triangle STU

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i determine the area though? what formula

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

WowIzzy - you want everything done for you? Well, since I made the graphic, I might as well finish the whole thing. Area of rectangle QRSV = 6 x 7 = 42 (CAn you see why it is 6 by 7 ?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

Next we need the area of the 2 triangles triangle area = ½ • base • height triangle STU base = 8 triangle STU height = 4 triangle STU area = ½ • 8 • 4 triangle STU area = 16 triangle QVU base = 7 triangle QVU height = 2 triangle QVU area = ½ • 7 • 2 triangle QVU area = 7 TOTAL AREA rectangle = 42 triangles STU area = 16 triangle QVU area = 7 TOTAL Area = 65
