OpenStudy (kainui):

I was thinking and came up with a probability problem, which requires a picture. Pretend that there are a lot more circles, I had trouble drawing a lot to cover the whole thing.

OpenStudy (kainui):

|dw:1404117249517:dw| Suppose that all of these circles are packed together as close together as possible and we throw a stick at it with a length of d (or perhaps 2d or d/2 or anything else if you feel this will make the problem easier) Then what is the probability that this stick randomly crosses 3 circles? What's the probability of it crossing 2 circles?

OpenStudy (dan815):

oh

OpenStudy (dan815):

question, we are assuming it is a stick, not a line right, so like |dw:1404117763152:dw|
