Find two consecutive odd integers whose sum is 36. Which of the following equations could be used to solve the problem? 2x = 36 2x + 1 = 36 2x + 2 = 36 x 2 + 2 = 36

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let x be the smaller of the two consecutive odd integers. Then the larger integer is (x+2). You are given: x + (x+2) = 36 That's the same as 2x + 2 = 36, so that's your answer. (If you solve the equation, you'll find that the two integers are 17 and 19). Hope that helps!
