@Jumperman @DangerousJesse @iambatman @hari5719 Can you guys help me pick out eight events?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My lesson is about the 1980s

OpenStudy (jumperman):

The Berlin Wall coming down is one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok and sorry I put this in Math I didn’t know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing that is a choice one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about when Reagan won the election for a political

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the reagan doctrine for another political?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Yeah do that as well. Berlin would be social and political. You could also do Glasnost and Perestroika for political as well.

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Space Shuttle Challenger explodes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok now i need econmic

OpenStudy (jumperman):

The Chernobyl Nuclear disaster.

OpenStudy (jumperman):

There is the New York Stock Exchange suffering a huge drop on Black Monday.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would that be a economic?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Yes. It affected the economy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about the Chernobyl Nuclear disaster? I never heard about it before

OpenStudy (jumperman):

That majorly affected Russia. The Chernobyl Disaster caused so many problems across the world, Russia is still working on it today.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its suppose to be U.S only. Would the end of the cold war be social?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Political and social it affected the whole world.

OpenStudy (jumperman):

The Cold War was a political war.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How is it both?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Because it had mainly targeted certain groups, but also maintained a control over many Asian countries.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How was the berlin wall political?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

It stopped the Cold War. The Berlin Wall was a separation between the Communists and the Free countries. People were shot and killed if they tried to cross. With the Berlin Wall there, it marked where the Iron Curtain was. The Berlin Wall came down and ended the Cold War.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because of Reagan wasnt it?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Reagan helped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it was social because people gathered?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe we need a couple more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need one economic

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Hmm..... Not much happened in the 1980's.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok well do you know what the Reagan doctrine did?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Yes very well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain please?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Hold on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (jumperman):

I'm back.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, So what is reagan doctine

OpenStudy (jumperman):

The Reagan Doctrine was implemented for the end of the Cold War. It was the centerpiece for U.S. foreign policy, from the 1980's to the end of the Cold War in 1991. It provided anti-communist soldiers who used guerrilla warfare, with supplies. It was all to stop Soviet influences on other countries.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it economic didnt it reduce taxes?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Partly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How is it partly?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

It helped a little bit, but that wasn't the main function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm confused if its economic or political?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Political.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How is it politicial though?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

It is to stop Soviet power.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the Space SHuttle Challenger economical in any way?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Kind of, but it was more social, since many people were watching and were getting into it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What was the cause of it then?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

To scientifically advance the human race.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the course of it was that it started to take of then exploded when people was watching it live on the tvs, correct?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i found two more events could one of these be economical? Nuclear Power Growing and the Research of aids

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Yes and no. Yes for Nuclear, no for aids.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok how can the nuclear power growing be a economical?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

The advancement of nuclear power will help the economy. It helps us use energy efficiently and effectively, but it takes a lot of money and resources just to fund.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the cause of it was to use energy efficiently

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what was the consequence?

OpenStudy (jumperman):

Lots of funding towards that and the Chernobyl disaster.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know what the course of it is either
