x=20/3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
A.–5
B.5
C.7
D.–7
these are my only options though
OpenStudy (anonymous):
You need to multiply everything by 5 and then you will get whole numbers,
After you can move all the numbers to the right side,
Then you can combine the two x values by adding them up,
Then you can divide by the multiplier of x to get your answer.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So four steps. and it is not 20/3

i don't get it :/

Well type out what you have now,
5/3*x-5+x-4 = -1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And you are trying to get x all alone.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So the easiest thing to do is to move all the constants over to the other side.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So you have 5/3x which is a constant divided by a constant times a vairable which comes out to be a variable, and x is a variable so you keep those two on the left side

Then you add 5 to both sides which cancels out the -5
And you add 4 to both sides which cancels out the -4
