OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Does this have infinently many solutions?

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no...when the lines DO NOT intersect, they have no solution.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Thank You!

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

i thought so but i was like what the heck im not that smart anyways let me ask the ones who kno xD

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

sure thing :) Infinently many solutions is when the lines are the same

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I mean when the lines coincide....they make the same line...one on top of the other

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

there were four options but i thought this one didnt but just to make sure

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

what about this one?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

its always good to check yourself when your not sure on your next one....you see how the lines lay on top of each other...that means there are infinite solutions

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

wait but does this one have infinite solutions too?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

the first one has no solutions the second one has infinite solutions

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

parallel lines have no solutions because the lines do not intersect.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

but is the second one parralel?

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

it looks weird

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no...the second one is when the lines are the same...they lay on top of each other. They coincide.....that means they have infinite solutions

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

oh but theyre on the same question...

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

|dw:1404179761214:dw| ^^ This never intersects. Therefore it can be said that it has no solutions. A solution is kinda like 2 = 2, this si true. However, 3 = 5 isn't. |dw:1404179807217:dw| ^^ when they're ontop of each other, they always have the same solutions. It's basically like having the same line.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

huh ? The first graph..the lines are parallel and never intersect, thus, they have no solution. The second graph...the lines lay on top of each other....therefore, they have infinite solutions

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

oh ok i got confused for a sec thank you both xD u guyz are the best!

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

I wasn't talking to you Fizi, when I said " huh"...I was replying to camerondoherty

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

I know ^_~
