Light is an electromagnetic wave. so basically it travels perpendicular to the direction of its osscillation. it is reflected, defracted and refracted like any other wave and travel at 300000000metres per second in a vacuum and slightly less in air. all waves are the result of particles carrying energy from one point to another.
