Because you have to find the LCD for 4 and 7, which is 28, so you multiply 7 to 4 which is 28, and you also multiply the 7 to the numerator, 9, which is 63. So the first fraction is 63/28. 4 x 7 = 28, so we multiply the 4 to the numerator, which equals 4. The second fraction is 4/28. So now you only need to subtract 63 - 4, which equals 59. You leave the denominator the same. So your answer is 59/28.
