I have been on OpenStudy for nearly three years. In that time I feel that I have learned and taught much, made many friends and hope that I have brought as much to others as they have brought to me here. I am leaving for two reasons:

1. Failure of the admins to give mods tolls to deal with trolls. I mean IP bans, or ability to call in IP bans from responsive admins like we had when shadowfiend and colm were still around. It shows so little respect of the admins for the mods that we, the most dedicated tutors, be asked to spend hours of our time suspending and resuspending the same troll not because people do crazy lonely lost things in the eWorld, but because the admins won't give us the tools we beg for to deal with it efficiently. We shouldn't have to put this pellet.

2. Admins putting PR and fluff above the substance of the site. I appreciate the need to promote and hype OpenStudy, but to be hiring PR people to run Facebook feeds on the site when the site desperately needs coders to implement new features and be worth promoting at all is no good.

3. OpenStudy should be Open Source. Treating code as corporate trade secrets has never driven anything forward; OpenStudy should be open to community improvement. Honestly I have never seen a site fall so far from its founders original dreams.

And no, this is not an attention whoring "I'll be back every five minutes to see who begs me to stay" post. This is "Show me you have addressed these issues and then I'll come back" post.

They hire people for FB? That's a bit surprising I thought they just had some ambis do it for free.
You have valid reasons though, I've felt the site is not going to improve unfortunately, I haven't been here as long as you but I do feel why you're leaving. I also do feel the admins should listen to the community more often, but there seems to be no care for it. 

Anyways, take care @blues you were a great help for the OS community, and I hope the best for you in your future :). Take care.

I know it is very annoying coming on and just suspending someone over and over instead of actually coming on here to do what you wanted to do which is help. 
Sometimes it is hard to suspend someone over and over while they spam the site repeatedly.  I guess you could go to the list but for some reason my first instinct is to suspend them from where they spam.

I know I'm expected to take care of it but I can't be expected and it is not expected that you take care of it all. 
You are tired just leave for then and come back later.

I know you see other deeper issues with this like the admins not respecting us enough to give us the tools to better take care of these situations. I don't think it is a lack of respect. I think it is that OpenStudy doesn't have the man power they once had not because they wanted it that way but because it had to be that way for maybe financial reasons or some other reasons I cannot foresee. 
So because of the lack of admin man power, there isn't a lot of admin people investing time in how to implement these changes or here on the site ip-banning people. 

These are my own thoughts, may or may not be true.

I wish you weren't leaving. I can completely understand why you're upset with this. I mean, even I have tried requesting things at this point. It can get hard a lot now. A lot of good people are leaving because of what seems like the lack of care and the amount of attention seeking rude trolls. I just hope you come back soon, we love you. <3

#1, when mods give a suspension, an ip ban is issued for as long as the suspension is in effect.

#2, ambis are running the facebook account for OS and I doubt they get paid. And the coders have implemented some new features (OwlBucks, QH's, etc.).

Still missing chat suspensions, profile reset, topic relocation, sticky posts, and a lot more things which do not immediately spring to mind.

Chat suspensions already work, you just need to know the JavaScript command (and to be a mod) eventually they'll add the button instead..

profile reset, now this one is a little trickier, and involves several JavaScript commands, and to be a administrator.

topic relocation, this one is shockingly pretty much already there... all the code needed for it is once again already there.... but implemented fully yet? nope why would it be :/ this one requires about 4 to 5 commands to do. (and once again only admins can, or if you are the original owner of that post you also can.)

Sticky posts... this one is actually a lot of commands activated at the right times to work... the coding there, just not pre-assembled so to speak for you

mass delete, this would actually be pretty easy to add to my extension o-o, its just a matter of a selector to select which posts to delete, then using a this.div method push the delete button for posts that should be deleted, only issue would be you'll still need to push the confirm delete button for each post to be deleted, but i can work on this ._.
