can you give me the equations used to solve this algebraically? Mandy is skating at 5 miles per hour. Nikki is skating at 6 miles per hour and started 1 mile behind Mandy. If their rates stay the same, will Mandy catch up with Nikki?

no
she wont, because she will always remain one mile behind Mandy if they skate at the same rate
But nikki is skating faster, so she would catch up wouldn't she? I just need the equations: Here is what I have: mandy - y=5x; Nikki - y = 6x + 1
