I would think you just use the rounding rule on both numbers and then subtract. To round 7/8 or 6/7, you can compare it to the fraction 1/2 to see if it is greater than or less than 1/2 by doing a cross multiply. If the fraction is greater than 1/2, then round up to one. If the fraction is less than 1/2, round down to zero. Or you could draw a number line for each fraction to see if the fraction is more than half way. If more than half way round up to one.
