explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have to find the LCD of 8 and 7, which is 56. We have to change our fractions. 8 x 7 = 56, so we multiply that 7 to the numerator, 7, which is 49. So our first fraction is 49/56. Now we work on the second fraction. 7 x 8 = 56, so we multiply that 8 to the numerator, 6, and we get 48. So our second fraction is 48/56.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now we subtract. REMEMBER: When you are subtracting fractions, you only subtract the numerators. So subtract the numerators.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

49 - 48 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the fraction is 1/56

And 1/56 is approximately 1
