air at the equator is ______? a.rising b.sinking c.staying at the same level d. moving north e. stagnant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think of the old saying "warm air rises". Air near the equator is going to rise towards the poles of the planet, cool, and then return towards the equator.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Air at the equator is warm. Warm air rises. [Not the rising to the poles, but rising on the land] |dw:1404291873593:dw| As the warm air rises, a low pressure system gets created from where the air rose. This low pressure attracts more wind, cooler air from the poles to replace it. So I think it should be Option 'A'. :)
