explain how you can decide whether the graph of y=3x^2+2x-4 opens up or down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HI Welcome to Openstudy! To determine if the graph of the equation \(ax^2+bx+c=0\) opens up or down, you should look at the sign of the leading coefficient which is \(a\). If a is negative, then the graph opens down. If a is positive then the graph opens up. So what will be your answer?
