OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the dimensions of a rectangle with area 343 m2 whose perimeter is as small as possible. (If both values are the same number, enter it into both blanks.)

OpenStudy (kootra):

Is there like a diagram of sorts?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. The question was the only thing given.

OpenStudy (kootra):

Hm. Give me a moment.

OpenStudy (kootra):

I can't find anything..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. Thanks for trying!

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

perimeter = 2x+2y Area = xy = 343 --> y = 343/x --> p(x) = 2x + 2(343/x) to minimize, set derivative equal to 0 --> 2 - 686/x^2 = 0 --> x^2 = 343 x = sqrt(343)
