x + 2 / 2 Find all numbers for which the rational expression is not defined.
is there a possibility to divide by zero?
i was thinking of canceling something out but i don't think that is correct
is there a variable in the denominator?
no i only see a 2 at the bottom for my question
so it's impossible for the denominator to ever be 0 making division by zero never happening no matter what you pick for x
so the expression is defined for all values of x
so how would i simplify this expression you can't or is there a way?
it's as simple as it gets I'm assuming the original expression is \[\Large \frac{x+2}{2}\]
yes
that can't be simplified further
so my answer would be not defined
no, it's asking for what values of x make the expression undefined
there are no such x values that do that
oh i see so my answer would be just be the same expression i take it since it can't be undefined
no your answer would just be what I explained above (but in your own words). You would say something like "there's no way to divide by zero, so there are no x values that make the expression undefined"
oh i see you have to explain why like the way you stated there, ok i get it now thanks Jim :)
I'm glad it's clicking now
