The following function represents the production cost f(x), in dollars, for x number of units produced by company 1: f(x) = 0.25x2 - 8x + 600 The following table represents the production cost g(x), in dollars, for x number of units produced by company 2:

company 1 or 2?

let me study up on it for a minute.

Ok thank you, i really appreciate the help!

Ok, the way I did this was to assume that both companies had a minimum production output of 6 units of whatever. It costs company B $862.20 to produce 6 units. Now, taking the same x value of 6 and plugging it into our given equation, we can find y, which will tell us how much it costs company A to produce 6 units of whatever. Filling in 6 for x:\[.25(6)^{2}-8(6)+600\]we get that company A spends $561 to produce 6 units of whatever. To me it seems that company B's cost is greater for the minimum production of 6 units.

Thank you for the medal!

That makes perfect sense! Thanks YOU DA BEST!
