OpenStudy (tishockjo):

A six-sided number cube with faces numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 is rolled. What is the probability of rolling a 6 or a number less than 3? A.1/8 B.1/6 C.1/3 D.1/2

OpenStudy (aric200):

Probabality of rolling a 6 would be a 1 out of 6 chance

OpenStudy (aric200):

As there is One 6 and 6 numbers total

OpenStudy (aric200):

A number less than 3 Would mean the numbers would have to be 1 and 2 So that is a 2 out of 6 chance reduced to a 1 out of 3 chance of rolling a number less than 3.

OpenStudy (aric200):

Do we need to combine these 2 fractions? Is it asking what is the probability of both occurring on one roll?

OpenStudy (tishockjo):

oh...I got i now

OpenStudy (aric200):

You are trying to find the probability of rolling any 3 specific numbers of a 6 faced cube. 3 is half of 6, therefore the probability of rolling a 1, 2 or 6 is 3/6, which can be simplified to 1/2.

OpenStudy (aric200):

I was confussed at first but that makes way more since with combining the 2 probabilities.
