mixtures can be separated by filtration and distillation. both methods take advantage of different or similar phsycal properties?

distillation is done by separation with heat, to separate by vapors and such, like water, alcohol, and so forth; meanwhile in filtration, you use some form of suction, filter, or high pressure to separate.
