88?

OpenStudy (azureilai):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay can you help me with more in surface area, please?

OpenStudy (azureilai):

Sure

Find the surface area of the cylinder. Use 3.14 for p

OpenStudy (azureilai):

Ok. So the thing about surface area is that you basically add up the area of the shapes that creates the object. A cylinder is created by two circles and a rectangle. so.. Area of circle: A=pi(r)^2 A=pi(8)^2 Area of rectangle (when using a cylinder) A=2pi(r)(h) A=2pi(8)(56) Your whole formula comes out to be A= 2pi(8)(56)+2pi(8)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the ^?

OpenStudy (azureilai):

It means squared x^2 = \[x^{2}\] I find it quicker to just write it with a ^ rather than making the fancy notation of it in the answer box.

OpenStudy (azureilai):

The area formula comes to\[2\pi(8)(56)+2\pi(8)^{2}\] In case you want the actual writing form
