OpenStudy (vitasf):

What is the area of triangle ABC

OpenStudy (vitasf):

geerky42 (geerky42):

Use pythagoras theorem to find AD and DC

geerky42 (geerky42):

Then you will have base AD + DC then you can multiply it by height and divide it by 2 to get area. Because formula for area of triangle is \(A = \dfrac{1}{2}bh\)

geerky42 (geerky42):

William Shakespeare with sunglasses? lol

OpenStudy (vitasf):

i love both shakespeare and sunglasses, so yes :)

OpenStudy (vitasf):

for AD i got 5.66 and DC i got 9.75. but what's the height?

geerky42 (geerky42):

yep, so add them together and you will get base. height is already given. it's 7.

geerky42 (geerky42):

Now you have both base and height, you can apply formula for area of triangle: \(A = \dfrac{1}{2}bh\)

OpenStudy (vitasf):

Yess! I got 53.935. Thanks so much :)

geerky42 (geerky42):

welcome :)
